The 2nd interim technical report of the NOFFi project describes the activities conducted from July to December 2014.
More specifically, during this period the following were conducted:
- Completion of satellite imagery preprocessing
- Selection of the Chalkidiki regional unit as the study area for the development of the object-based classification model
- Determination of the basic fuel type categories
- Collection of available national and international data that will be used for developing the classification model for assessing its accuracy
- Development of classification model
- Development of a preliminary interface for burned area mapping and pilot application to wildfires of the recent past
- Continuation of literature review for the development of an operational forest fire risk index
